Three days after giving birth, Anna was still learning how to care for her newborn daughter, Amina. Although she loved her baby deeply, she had very little experience with newborns and often felt confused about what her tiny child needed.
One morning, Amina began to cry loudly. Anna thought the baby was simply being fussy, so she placed her in a crib and walked away to do household chores. However, Amina continued crying harder and harder. The tiny baby was not looking for toys or entertainment. At only three days old, she wanted warmth, comfort, and the reassurance of her mother’s presence.
Anna tried giving her a blanket, but the crying did not stop. She gently rocked the crib, yet Amina remained upset. Feeling frustrated, Anna wondered why nothing seemed to work.
A visiting grandmother noticed the situation and kindly offered some advice. She explained that newborn babies have very simple needs. They need to be fed regularly, kept clean, held close, and comforted when they feel scared or lonely. A baby who is only three days old cannot understand why her mother is far away. She simply wants to feel safe and protected.
Anna listened carefully. She picked up Amina and held her against her chest. Almost immediately, the baby’s cries became softer. After a feeding and a diaper change, Amina finally relaxed and drifted peacefully to sleep.
That day, Anna learned an important lesson. Caring for a newborn is not always easy, and mistakes can happen when parents are inexperienced. The most important thing is to keep learning and to respond with patience, love, and attention.
As she watched her sleeping daughter, Anna promised herself that she would continue learning how to become the caring and attentive mother that little Amina needed.
